The application is owned by HITC Inc. and data privacy policy aims to record student attendance for online classes using a mobile app.
The application requests access to users’ camera to capture QR code as a medium to record attendance of students. Each student is
assigned a unique QR code; data and log in history of each student is not displayed in the mobile app. Only student number
is displayed using the mobile app. The application only reads and records QR codes which means that
other images cannot be captured by the application.
There are no log in credentials needed to access and scan QR codes using the app, however, the mobile app is able to
determine valid QR codes only. Once QR codes scanned are not valid, it displays “invalid QR code” which means that it
is not being recorded.
Since the mobile app is made for the purpose of academic attendance of students on online classes, its users
are pre-defined through the school’s officially enrolled list. This way, the application does not permit unauthorized
users.
